US authorities search Jinko Solar sites

Two properties of Chinese solar company Jinko Solar Holding Co. Ltd. in the U.S. states of Florida and California were searched by the U.S. Department of Homeland Security (DHS) on Monday (May 8). According to a report by Reuters news agency, DHS gave no indication of the reasons. Jinko Solar had said it was »engaging constructively with relevant agencies to understand the nature of the inquiry.«
Last year, U.S. Customs – a division of DHS – detained imports from Jinko Solar and other Chinese companies under the U.S. law against forced labor in China's Xinjiang province (Uyghur Forced Labor Protection Act), but later released them.
Jinko Solar operates its U.S. sales and administrative headquarters in San Francisco, California, and a module manufacturing facility in Jacksonville, Florida, since 2018. The latter's planned expansion and related tax incentive issues were to be discussed by the Jacksonville City Council on Tuesday (May 9), according to local media, but this has now been postponed for the time being.
