TÜV Rheinland has published a standard for traceability management in the photovoltaic industry. According to the testing institute, this is intended to enable project developers, buyers and investors to trace the production processes of purchased modules on a project-specific basis.

The audit for traceability in accordance with standard 2PfG 3103/11.24 is primarily based on the globally recognized ISO 9001 standard for management systems and ISO 28000:2007 for security management in the supply chain. On request, TÜV Rheinland also takes into account project-specific customer requirements, for example regarding working conditions.

As part of the traceability audit, TÜV Rheinland checks how the PV module supply chain is documented. »We evaluate whether and how precisely the systems, tools, and processes used by manufacturers can ensure traceability,« says Maximilian Lieberz, Business Development Manager at TÜV Rheinland. According to TÜV Rheinland, the results of the audit also meet the requirements of banks and financing partners.

The aim of the new standard is not only to address the individual requirements of buyers and investors in PV projects, but also to establish traceability requirements as an industry standard.
