Trina Solar starts production of n-type i-TOPCon cells in 8-gawatt factory

Chinese solar group Trina Solar reports the start of production of its »i-TOPCon« solar cells based on n-type silicon at its Suqian plant. Construction of the factory in Jiangsu province began last July, and production equipment was installed in late November. By Dec. 30, the 8 gigawatt annual capacity manufacturing facility was operational, according to Trina Solar.
The factory will mainly produce n-type i-TOPCon cells with an edge length of 210 millimeters for the new »Vertex N 605W« modules. This series, with module efficiencies of up to 22.4 percent, is intended by Trina to be used primarily in large solar power plants with single-axis tracking systems; it is matched to 104-meter module rows of TrinaTracker systems.
