The think tank »Zentrum Nachhaltige Transformation« (ZNT) at Quadriga University Berlin has updated its market overview of the largest providers on the European B2B solar market. According to the survey, the companies with the highest turnover in 2024 were once again Enpal from Berlin with a turnover of 860 million euros and 25,000 newly installed systems, followed by Eon with a turnover of 600 million euros (information on newly installed systems is not available) and 1Komma5° with a turnover of 520 million euros (information on newly installed systems is not available). 1Komma5° has thus swapped places with Energiekonzepte Deutschland EKD, which was in third place in 2023. However, the overview also shows that turnover has fallen, in some cases significantly, compared to the previous year’s overview.
»Following the exceptional growth in 2022 and 2023, which was primarily fueled by the sharp rise in electricity prices as a result of the Russian war of aggression, the European solar installation market has noticeably lost momentum since the end of 2023,« concludes the ZNT. The ZNT cites falling electricity prices coupled with rising interest rates, which are making financing more difficult, as reasons for the drop in demand. High inflation and a weak economy have also caused many households and investors to postpone major purchases and investments for the time being. »The current weakness in demand is being met with an expanded supply of installation capacity and well-stocked warehouses. The full order books from the boom year of 2023 have now been processed – and in many places there is no demand for new orders.«
Companies with a turnover of more than 100 million euros in 2024 in the end customer business with private rooftop solar systems and storage systems were included in the overview.
