Sungrow supplies 475 MW inverters for PV plant in Brazil

Chinese PV inverter manufacturer Sungrow Power Supply Co., Ltd. has announced a contract with Essentia Energia, a new renewable energy firm created by Pátria Investimentos, to deliver the SG3125HV central inverter solution for the implementation of the project »Sol do Sertão« in Brazil. The facility will be built in Oliveira dos Brejinhos, a city in the state of Bahia that is about 600 km west from the capital Salvador da Bahia. It will have a total capacity of 475 MW once completed.
According to Gilberto Peixoto, director of implementation of the »Sol do Sertão« complex, the project includes eight solar PV systems generating more than 4,000 jobs throughout its works. Sungrow will provide 122 units of SG3125HV inverters, which comprise a set of 61 blocks, in addition to the commissioning and training service of the team's O&M.
The plant will be installed in a region where the temperature can exceed 40 degrees Celsius, while Sungrow's SG3125HV can work without derating even temperature reaches 50 degrees. The inverter is equipped with a smart air-cooling system that in addition to increasing the life of the equipment, ensures that it does not lose productivity even in the most extreme conditions. It is compatible with bifacial modules and tracking systems. The work is under construction and the commercial operation is scheduled for the second half of 2021.
The announcement comes on the heels of Sungrow's supply agreement with Brazilian Focus Energia to deliver inverters and MV stations for the implementation of the first phase of the »Futura« solar park. Upon completion, its total capacity will be approximately 852 MW (we reported).
