Voestalpine Krems GmbH, a producer of steel pipe and profile solutions belonging to Austrian steel and technology group Voestalpine AG, will in future cover around 45 percent of its electricity requirements with an 8.5-megawatt ground-mounted solar power plant. The plant is currently being installed on the company’s factory premises in Krems, Lower Austria, by Sun Contracting AG of Liechtenstein. Sun Contracting will also operate the plant and has concluded a contracting agreement with Voestalpine for this purpose. No details were given about the price of the solar power purchased by Voestalpine. At the end of the contract, usually after 20 years in the case of Sun Contracting, the plant will become the property of Voestalpine.
