Startup Peridot Solar aims for 5-gigawatt portfolio by 2026

Investment firm FitzWalter Capital has added solar project developer Peridot Solar to its portfolio. The company is launching with around 30 employees and offices in Milan and London. The goal is to develop, build and operate photovoltaic plants throughout Europe. By the end of 2026, Peridot Solar aims to have plants with a total capacity of 5 gigawatts under construction or in operation.
The company, which was founded this year, says it already has projects totaling 120 megawatts (MW) in Italy and 60 MW in the United Kingdom ready for construction to begin this year. The total current project portfolio currently stands at 545 MW in Italy and 431 MW in the UK.
FitzWalter Capital was founded in 2020 by five former employees of investment firm Macquarie Group Ltd. With offices in London, New York and Hamburg, the company says it manages more than $1 billion in assets.
