The Freiburg Solar Energy Foundation (Stiftung Solarenergie) and the University of Freiburg have launched the »Startup I Energy« initiative. This is intended to promote the exchange between newly founded companies in the field of decentralized, renewable energy supply in Germany and East Africa. According to the initiators, the aim is for start-up teams to learn from other local contexts for their own business ideas. The focus is on two to three-month »energy camps« in Freiburg and Kampala, Uganda. Up to five start-ups will be included in each energy camp. The application for the Freiburg camp, which is organized by the University of Freiburg, runs from September 15 to October 31, and the application for the camp in Kampala, which is organized by the Stiftung Solarenergie, runs from February 1 to March 15, 2021. The camps take place from December to February 2021 (Freiburg) and April to June 2021 (Kampala).
