Spotsylvania County approves sPower's 500 MW solar project

The Spotsylvania Board of Supervisors, Virginia, USA, has approved three special use permits for sPower's proposed 500 MW solar project. The project will be built in phases over the next two years and will ultimately generate over $20 million in new tax revenue for Spotsylvania County, says the company. The project will create approximately 800 construction jobs and 35 full-time jobs.
S-Power owns and operates a portfolio of solar and wind assets greater than 1.5 GW and has a development pipeline of more than 10 GW. S-Power is owned by a joint venture partnership between the AES Corporation, a worldwide energy company headquartered in Arlington, Virginia, and the Canadian diversified institutional investment fund manager Alberta Investment Management Corporation.
