Spanish Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO, Ministerio para la Transición Ecológica y el Reto Demográfico) announced the »minimum volumes« to be tendered in renewable energy auctions in the period 2020-2025. In 2020, the government is planning a renewable energy auction for the allocation of a minimum of 3,100 MW, of which at least 1,000 MW will be for wind energy, 1,000 MW for photovoltaic and 80 MW for biomass, with the rest of the power to be auctioned without technological restriction.
Regarding only PV, the country will tender 10 GW until 2025 and aims to reach an auctioned new capacity of cumulated 2.8 GW in 2021, 4.6 GW in 2022, 6.4 GW in 2023, 8.2 GW in 2024 and at least 10 GW in 2025. In the same period, tenders for wind power will be cumulated to 8.5 GW.
The calendar will be updated annually, said Minister Teresa Ribera Rodriguez.
