Sonnen announces integration of heat pumps into its energy management system
Post date: 05/06/2023 - 16:00
Wildpoldsried, Germany-based Sonnen GmbH, a manufacturer of battery storage systems and provider of energy services, plans to launch a first product »as early as this year« that will allow the control system of its »sonnenBatterie« storage system to coordinate the operation of a heat pump in addition to the battery, the photovoltaic system and the charging of electric cars. The goal, as with comparable control systems, is to start the pump only when possible with solar power, with power from the battery or from the »sonnenCommunity« generation and consumption network.
According to Sonnen, additional hardware does not have to be installed; the connection is made via software. Since Sonnen does not use a generally available standard (Open EMS) for its energy management system, the connection only works if the heat pump in question is compatible with it. The first partner in the »Europe-wide cooperation« announced by Sonnen is the Swedish manufacturer Nibe.
