Swedish photovoltaic company Solkompaniet, part of the German IBC Solar AG, and Polhem Infra, an investment company owned by three public pension funds, plan to jointly implement solar power plant projects with a total capacity of 600 megawatts. This initially includes two projects with a total capacity of 100 MW already under development at Solkompaniet. Further projects are to be added using Polhem Infra’s »contact network« in cooperation with Swedish municipalities.
Solkompaniet expects a significant increase in the number and size of solar power plants in Sweden: »The largest solar power parks in Sweden today are 20 MW, but they will quickly become larger.« The industry association Svensk Solenergi expects annual electricity production from large solar parks to reach 18 terawatt hours by 2030, which would correspond to an installed capacity of around 18 gigawatts.
