Solar tender in Germany once again significantly undersubscribed

The latest round of tenders for ground-mounted solar power plants conducted by the German Federal Network Agency (Bundesnetzagentur), with a bid deadline of November 1, was significantly undersubscribed with a volume of 890 megawatts (MW) but only 677 MW of bids submitted. In addition, 13 bids were excluded due to formal errors, resulting in only 609 MW being awarded.
In June, already, the previous round of bidding saw only 714 MW of submissions for a tendered volume of 1,126 MW. For the November round, award prices were between 5.20 and 5.90 euro cents per kilowatt hour (ct/kWh) with a volume-weighted average of 5.80 ct/kWh, which was 0.29 euro cents higher than in the previous round and 0.8 ct/kWh higher than a year before.
