Solar start-up CarbonFreed raises one million euros from investors

German greentech company CarbonFreed has raised nearly one million euros from investors in the first financing round in the company's history. The capital comes from MBG Mittelständische Beteiligungsgesellschaft Schleswig-Holstein mbH, Bürgschaftsbank Schleswig-Holstein and Sparkasse Westholstein. The company, founded in 2020 by Marko Ibsch in Meldorf, has developed »gridcert«, an AI-supported platform that significantly accelerates the grid connection process for large solar systems. The CarbonFreed team has already connected more than 700 systems to the grid. CarbonFreed founder Marko Ibsch plans to use the new capital to further develop the software. Among other things, the software will be able to handle solar systems with an inverter output of more than 950 kilowatts. There are also plans to expand the software, which is currently limited to Germany, to other markets.
