Solar Decathlon Europe in Wuppertal opens on June 10

Solar Decathlon Europe (SDE) 21/22 in Wuppertal, Germany will be open to the public starting Friday (June 10). The university competition for sustainable building and living, which has been taking place for 20 years – initially only in the USA, later also in other countries – is thus making its first stop in Germany.
After the SDE, which was actually scheduled for 2021, had to be postponed, the participating teams have had time since May 20 to build the prototypes they designed. 16 buildings, each with up to 110 square meters of living space, are now waiting for visitors; public tours will begin at 3 p.m. on Friday, and will then take place daily (except on June 15) from 10:30 a.m. to 9:30 p.m. In addition, the SDE offers an extensive supporting program (see link below). The congress »Energiewende bauen« (Building Energy Transition) already starts on June 9, and registration for (free) online participation is possible until June 8.
The SDE 21/22 is also part of the »Festival of the New European Bauhaus«, which will be held throughout the EU from June 9 to 12 on the initiative of the European Commission (www.new-european-bauhaus-festival.eu).
