SMA with once again slightly increased forecast for 2023

German inverter manufacturer and system technology provider SMA Solar Technology AG on Thursday (March 30) confirmed its preliminary figures for 2022 published on March 9 and at the same time raised its forecast for the current fiscal year once again. Management now expects sales of € 1.45 billion to € 1.6 billion ($ 1.57 to 1.73 billion; previously: €1.35 billion to €1.5 billion) and earnings before interest, taxes, depreciation and amortization (EBITDA) of € 135 million to € 175 million ($ 146 to 190 million; previously: € 100 million to € 140 million).
In particular, for the »Commercial & Industrial Solutions« (C&I) and »Large Scale & Project Solutions« segments, the company expects positive earnings before interest and taxes (EBIT) in 2023. In 2022, the third segment, »Home Solutions,« had offset the negative results of the other two segments (€ -26 million and € -13.5 million, respectively) with EBIT of € 53.8 million.
The company had already communicated the increase in the forecast for 2023 in an ad hoc announcement one day before the publication of the annual financial statements. This announcement also included the expectation of a »very positive first quarter 2023« with sales of € 340 to 350 million and EBITDA of € 50 to 60 million. »On this basis«, the Executive Board had increased the forecast for the full year.
