Sinnopec starts construction of hydrogen project with 270 MW of solar in Inner Mongolia

Chinese state-owned natural gas and petroleum company Sinopec has begun construction of the Inner Mongolia Erdos Wind-Solar Green Hydrogen Project. The »hydrogen demonstration project« in the southwest of the autonomous region is expected to reach an annual production capacity of 30,000 tons. The hydrogen will not be used for energy production, but as chemical hydrogen to reduce carbon emissions at an adjacent coal processing plant.
To supply power to the Sinopec project with its investment of 5.7 billion yuan ($ 827 million), 450 megawatts of wind power and 270 megawatts of photovoltaic power are to be installed. The company did not provide further details on the planned solar power plant.
