Shell plans to sell Sonnen, media

Energy group Shell, which acquired battery storage and energy services provider Sonnen GmbH for around €500 million ($535 million) 2019, plans to sell the company again, according to several media. According to »Handelsblatt,« which first reported, either a 51 percent majority or the entire company, which is now valued at €1.4 billion to 1.8 billion ($1.5 billion to 1.9 billion), is up for sale.
The workforce has reportedly already been informed, but there are currently no official statements from Sonnen or Shell. The company, which was founded in 2010 and has subsidiaries in the USA, Australia, Italy and Spain, currently has around 1,650 employees, 400 of whom work at its headquarters in Wildpoldsried (Germany).
