SEIA launches think tank »Solar and Storage Industries Institute«

The U.S. Solar Energy Industries Association (SEIA) has established a »nonprofit to accelerate the transition to carbon-free electricity through clean energy research and analysis.« The Solar and Storage Industries Institute (SI2) is designed to help overcome barriers for renewable energies through research, public education initiatives, and policy maker engagement.
David Gail, currently »senior director of state policy, East« at SEIA, will lead SI2. The initial research project will address the availability of land for solar power plants, addressing issues ranging from minimizing impact to the environment and surrounding community to the availability of grid connections. SEIA President Abigail Ross-Hopper will chair the institute’s board of directors, which also includes George Hershman of solar EPC company SOLV Energy and Laura Stern of solar power plant operator Nautilus Solar.
