Saudi Arabian development fund supports 60-megawatt project in Belize

The Saudi Fund for Development (SFD) is granting a $77 million loan for the construction of a 60-megawatt solar power plant in Belize. An agreement to this effect was signed by the Caribbean nation's Prime Minister John Briceño and SFD Chief Executive Officer Sultan Al-Marshad.
The project is part of efforts to support the sustainable development of developing countries and small island states, according to an SFD statement. For Belize, a country with a population of about 450,000, the solar power plant is a significant contribution to the energy supply and its conversion to renewable resources.
