and solar farms from 2023 onwards
From 2023, RWE AG will pay local authorities and communities a share of 0.2 cents per kilowatt hour in the profits generated by existing or yet-to-be-built solar and wind farms, thus taking advantage of the amendment to the Renewable Energy Sources Act that will come into force on January 1. This was previously only possible for plants built after January 1, 2021.
RWE hopes that this will lead to broader acceptance of renewable energy projects among the population. Municipalities that are working with RWE on renewable energies could use the additional revenue to financially strengthen community facilities such as daycare centers, schools or fire departments, for example.
