Russian oil company Lukoil plans 12 MW PV project in Romania

Romanian energy regulator ANRE has approved a proposal put forward by Russian oil company Lukoil to build a 12 MW PV power plant at its refinery in Ploiesti, southern Romania, according to local newspaper the Diplomat. The article does not disclose how much the company aims to invest in the project and if the PV plant will have access to the country’s green certificate scheme. Lukoil has been active in the PV sector since 2011, when it installed a 1.25 MW PV power plant in Bulgaria. The company was also planning a €250 million ($318 million) 100 MW PV project in Uzbekistan at one point, but Lukoil has not provided an update on that project for more than a year.
