Reliance orders 4.8 gigawatt HTJ cell production lines from Maxwell

India's Reliance Industries Ltd, the parent company of Norwegian module maker REC since October 2021, has ordered eight heterojunction (HTJ) solar cell production lines with a capacity of 600 megawatts each from Chinese equipment manufacturer Suzhou Maxwell Technologies Co, Ltd.
REC had said at the time of the acquisition that the new ownership would enable the module maker to expand its capacity to more than five gigawatts (GW) within the next two to three years in Singapore, Europe and the United States.
Headquartered in Mumbai, Reliance is one of India's largest private companies. Reliance's operations span fossil fuel exploration and production, petrochemicals, retail and digital services.
