PV covered 4.5% of Germany's electricity production in 2013

Electricity generated by PV systems covered 4.5% of Germany’s gross electricity production in 2013, up from 4.2% in 2012, according to the provisional numbers from German Association of Energy and Water (BDEW). The electricity production from PV source registered a 7.3% growth in 2013, while for wind power BDEW reported a 3.5% decrease. Altogether renewables accounted for 23.4% of Germany’s electricity production (and 25% of electricity demand) in 2013, up from 22.8% in the previous year.
