PV covered 2.0% of Spain's electricity demand in December

In December, Spain’s 4.67 GW of installed PV capacity covered 2.0% of the country’s electricity demand, down from 2.5% in November, according to Spanish grid operator Red Electrica de Espana. In full year 2013, PV represented 3.1% of the country’s total electricity mix. Meanwhile, solar thermal covered 0.8% of Spain’s electricity demand in December and 1.8% for all of 2013. When lumped together, renewables jointly accounted for 36.8% of Spain’s electricity mix in December, down from 48.7% in November. Red Electrica also revealed that Spain’s total electricity demand increased by 1.6% year on year in December.
