Project »Wallbox Inspection« to develop quality standards for solar charging

In the »Wallbox Inspection« project, the Fraunhofer Institute for Solar Energy Systems ISE in Freiburg, Germany and the Berlin University of Applied Sciences (HTW Berlin) want to jointly develop »new procedures for the quality assessment of solar and bidirectional wallboxes for private electric vehicles« and thus establish an industry standard for these products. The focus of the cooperation partners is on »the efficiency and control quality for solar charging« and »vehicle to home« charging.
Fraunhofer ISE and HTW Berlin see »parallels to stationary energy storage systems« in the case of wallboxes and thus the danger »that without a uniform test procedure, there will be major differences in quality on the market.« In cooperation with the automobile club ADAC and an »industry advisory board«, test procedures are therefore to be developed, the aim of which is an »industry-wide recognized uniform industry standard for solar-optimized controlled and bidirectional charging.« This is to create a »Wallbox Score« as a transparent comparison possibility.
The industry advisory board has already provided wallboxes for testing in the »Digital Grid Lab« of Fraunhofer ISE. The project team is looking for further manufacturers who would like to have their devices tested.
