PPVX starts the new year with plus 13.5 percent

The PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index PPVX rose 13.5 percent to 4,619 points in the first week of the new year. More than half of the 30 stocks listed in the index posted double-digit price gains. The PPVX benchmark NYSE Arca Oil gained 9.6 percent. In a long-term comparison since the beginning of 2003, the solar stocks (plus 1,541.7 percent) have a 1,475.5 percentage point lead over the oil stocks (plus 66.2 percent). The cumulative market value of all PPVX companies is currently around €140.9 billion ($173.1 billion).
The top 3 stocks in the first week of the year are Sunrun with a gain of 39.1 percent, Daqo New Energy (34.4 percent) and Maxeon (26.4 percent), while the highest price losses are recorded by Bejing Energy (6.5 percent), United Renewable Energy (6.4 percent) and Sino-American Silicon (4.2 percent).
