PPVX gains significantly

The PHOTON Photovoltaic Shares Index PPVX increased significantly by 5.6 percent last week and was quoted at 1,129 points on Friday. Its comparative value NYSE Arca Oil gained 2.9 percent.
The highest price gains of the previous week were achieved by REC Silicon with 24.2 percent. SMA largely offset the losses of the week before and gained 16.2 percent, Sunpower 13.8 percent. Only five PPVX companies suffered price losses last week, most notably Panda Green Energy (2.8 percent), Solarpack (1.9 percent) and SPCG (1.6 percent). Compared to the beginning of the year, the highest price gains are currently attributable to Enphase (108.0 percent), Jinko Solar (100.9 percent) and Daqo New Energy (54.9 percent). Since January 1, only three PPVX stocks have recorded losses: Shunfeng International (40.4 percent), Panda Green Energy (27.1 percent) and West Holdings (0.4 percent). The current cumulative market value of all PPVX companies is around €29.3 billion ($32.9 billion).
With an increase of 25.7 percent since the beginning of 2019, the PPVX is (after currency adjustments) 8.0 percentage points ahead of the NYSE Arca Oil (17.7 percent). Since the beginning of 2003, the PPVX (plus 301.5 percent) has been ahead of the oil stocks (180.2 percent) by 121.3 percentage points. For index calculation, the Enphase Energy Inc. share was increased from three to four weighting points.
