PPVX almost unchanged, SMA joins top 3 of 2019

The PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index PPVX rose slightly last week by 0.3 percent to 1,358 points. Since the beginning of the year it has thus increased by 51.1 percent.
The highest price gains of the week were posted by SMA (11.0 percent), Thai Solar Energy (10.8 percent) and Sunnova (10.7 percent), while the highest price losses were suffered by GCL Poly (12.1 percent), Canadian Solar (11.5 percent) and BCPG (7.8 percent). The top 3 stocks since the beginning of the year are Enphase (plus 308.5 percent), SolarEdge (125.0 percent) and – after last week’s high gain – SMA (94.3 percent). The highest price losses compared to January 1 are currently registered by Shunfeng International (65.4 percent), Panda Green Energy (52.1 percent) and GCL-Poly (38.3 percent). The cumulative market value of all PPVX companies is currently around €37.5 billion ($41.3 billion).
The PPVX reference value NYSE Arca Oil lost 0.9 percent last week. Since the beginning of the year, it has shown a plus of 11.4 percent, currency-adjusted 39.8 percentage points less than the PPVX. In a long-term comparison since 2003, the solar shares (plus 382.6 percent) have a lead of 217.6 percentage points over the Arca Oil (plus 165.1 percent).
