PPVX up 3.1 percent

Last week, the PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index PPVX recorded an extraordinarily high increase of 3.5 percent to 1,287 points while its reference value NYSE Arca Oil fell slightly by 0.3 percent. Since the beginning of the year, the PPVX (43.2 percent) has been 32.9 percentage points ahead of the oil index (plus 10.4 percent). Since 2003, the solar shares (plus 357.4 percent) currently have a lead of 194.7 percentage points over the oil stocks (plus 162.7 percent). The current cumulative market value of all PPVX companies is around €34.3 billion ($38.7 billion).
The highest price gains of the past week were posted by REC Silicon (20.4 percent), SunPower (12.2 percent) and Vivint Solar (9.5 percent), the highest losses have been suffered by Meyer Burger (11.3 percent), Thai Solar Energy (7.3 percent) and BCPG (6.3 percent). Enphase Energy recorded the most significant growth since the beginning of the year: after a 7.7 percent gain last week, the company broke through the 300 percent barrier and more than quadrupled its market capitalisation with a plus of 315.2 percent since January. The second highest price increase was recorded by SunPower (141.2 percent) and third place went to Jinko Solar (134.2 percent). In contrast, the highest price losses since January are posted by Panda Green Energy (52.1 percent), Shunfeng International (44.2 percent) and Meyer Burger (22.7 percent).
