PPVX up 3.1 percent

The PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index (PPVX) gained 3.1 percent last week and was quoted at 1,040 points on Friday. Its reference value NYSE Arca Oil was up 1.6 percent. Since the beginning of this year, the PPVX rose 8.1 percent and lies, on a currency-adjusted basis, 27 percentage points in front of the Oil-index (-18.5 percent). Since 2003, the PPVX, with +270 percent, is 139 percentage points ahead of the NYSE Arca Oil (+131 percent). The cumulated market cap of all PPVX companies is €23.1 billion ($26.5 billion).
Last week’s highest price gains were posted by Meyer Burger (+19.7 percent), SunPower (+15.8 percent), and Jinko Solar (+14.5 percent). With +10.4 percent, SMA also posted a double-digit increase. REC Silicon (-8.8 percent), Shunfeng International (-4.7 percent), and Neo Solar (-2.4 percent) suffered the highest price losses.
The three top performers since the beginning of this year are Meyer Burger (+126.9 percent), SolarEdge (+76.2 percent), and SunPower (+53.1 percent). The worst performing stocks since January are China Singyes Solar (-17.8 percent), Thai Solar Energy (-17.2 percent), and Gintech Energy (+16.8 percent).
