PPVX up 2.1 percent

Last week the PHOTON Photovoltaic Stock Index (PPVX) grew 2.1 percent and closed at 1,034 points on Friday (February 17). Compared to the beginning of this year the index gained 7.4 percent.
The best performers of last week were Shunfeng International (+37.7 percent), followed by Canadian Solar (+13.2 percent), and Jinko Solar (+11.7 percent). REC Silicon (-5.7 percent), Scatec Solar (-5.6 percent), and Sino-American Silicon (-4,0 percent) suffered the highest price losses. The highest gains since January 1st have been achieved by Shunfeng International (+52.1 percent), Sino-American Silicon (+35.6 percent) and Daqo New Energy (+29.9 percent). Thai Solar Energy (-12.3 percent), Terraform Power (-9.2 percent) and BCPG (-8.6 percent) suffered the highest price losses.
The PPVX reference value NYSE Arca Oil decreased by 1.9 percent in the last week. Since the beginning of the year, the PPVX is, with its plus of 7.4 percent, 13.4 percentage points ahead of the Arca Oil (-6.0 percent). In a longterm comparison since 2003, the solar shares (+267 percent) are 101 percentage points ahead of the oil shares (plus 166 percent).
