Portugal registers 12.8 MW of new PV power in October

Portugal registered 12.8 MW of new PV capacity in October, slightly down from 14 MW in September, according to the latest data from the Portuguese Directorate General for Geology and Energy. The country had 270.4 MW of cumulative installed PV capacity at the end of October. Of this capacity, 126.1 MW came from micro-production PV installations (systems up to 250 kW). In the first 10 months of last year, 39.2 MW of PV capacity was installed in the country. Portugal added 67.8 MW of PV power in all in 2012.
Portuguese PV systems covered 0.8% of the country’s total electricity demand in the first 10 months of 2013, while renewable energies covered 56.2% of demand. At the end of October of 2013, the country had more than 11.0 GW of installed renewable energy capacity. Most of this capacity, however, comes from wind and hydropower generation facilities.
