German Wind and solar power project developer PNE AG has announced a massive expansion of its project portfolio. According to its own announcement, the company, which originated as a wind power plant developer in the 1990s, has completed its transformation into a »clean energy solutions provider«, which began in 2017, and now intends to expand its »project development«, »services« and »power generation« segments. This includes, as its core business, the development of onshore and offshore wind power projects as well as solar power plants. The company also intends to integrate »future technologies such as hybrid projects with electrolysers, battery and gas storage as well as heat generators« including »power-to-X« and battery storage into its activities.
PNE announced plans to expand its project portfolio to a total of 20 gigawatts (GW) by 2027, including eight GW of photovoltaics and ten GW of onshore and two GW of offshore wind. Currently, the portfolio comprises 11.4 GW. The company intends to retain a small part - around 1.5 GW - in its own power generation portfolio; PNE currently operates 283 megawatts in this segment. Total planned investments »from external project financing and own funds« amount to 1.6 billion euros.
