»Platform-ZERO« research project aims to reduce rejects in PV production

The Austrian Institute of Technology (AIT) informs about the research project »Platform-ZERO«, which started in January and is funded by the European Union with € 9.1 million ($ 9.7 million). The aim is to develop a self-learning, modular and flexible inline process monitoring system based on non-destructive inspection methods for the photovoltaic industry. In this way, deviations in production conditions are to be noticed in time to minimise rejects – at best to zero.
Within the framework of the project, in which a total of 12 partners from industry and research are involved, the developed process monitoring technology is to be tested in practice in four pilot lines in Spain, Germany, Austria and Poland. The project will run until December 2026.
