Philippines approved PV project pipeline tops 1 GW

As of the end of December 2013, the Philippines Department of Energy (DOE) had awarded 61 service contracts for PV projects totaling 1,013.8 MW. Of this capacity, 1,012.2 MW is represented by 56 grid-connected PV projects. The remaining 1.6 MW is for off-grid projects. In addition to these projects, the DOE is currently examining four further PV project proposals totaling 33 MW. As of the end of November 2013, the DOE had only awarded 38 service contracts for PV projects totaling 846.2 MW.
The Philippines currently grants a FIT of 9.68 PHP (23¢) per kWh for all solar installations regardless of the system’s size or technology.
