Pepperoni research project: Pilot line for tandem solar cells planned in Thalheim, Germany
Post date: 23/11/2022 - 12:32
As part of the European research project »Pepperoni«, a pilot production line for tandem solar cells based on perovskite and silicon is to be established. The aim of the project, coordinated by Helmholtz-Zentrum Berlin and Hanwha Q Cells GmbH, is to advance perovskite silicon technology on its way to market launch and mass production. One of the aims here is to increase the operational stability of the perovskite cell, which is the weaker partner of the tandem in this respect.
The research project is part of the European Union's Horizon program and runs from Nov. 1, 2022, to Oct. 31, 2026, with a budget of 18.85 million euros. The »Pepperoni« consortium includes 17 partners from 12 European countries, who will meet at Q Cells in Thalheim on Nov. 24 and 25 for the project's kick-off meeting.
