OPD Energy receives $252 million for projects in the United States

Spanish renewable energy project developer OPD Energy has closed $252 million (€238 million) in project financing for two solar projects with a combined capacity of 260 megawatts in West Virginia and Louisiana. Both projects, which are currently under construction and expected to come online in the coming months, are subject to long-term power purchase agreements (PPAs) with AEP Energy Partners, Inc. and Entergy Louisiana, LLC. The development of these solar projects, Horus West Virginia I, LLC, »Blake« (100 MW) and Horus Louisiana I, LLC, »Elizabeth« (160 MW), is expected to provide »significant economic, social and environmental benefits« to communities in West Virginia and Louisiana, according to OPD Energy.
These transactions were backed by RBC Community Investments, LLC, a tax equity investor, and financed by a number of banks (BBVA, Intesa Sanpaolo and MUFG). In recent years, OPD Energy has raised nearly $2 billion (€1.9 billion) for projects around the world.
