NGK receives order for 11.4 MW / 69.6 MWh NAS batteries from Toho Gas

Japanese industrial group NGK Insulators, Ltd.. has received a major order for its in-house sodium sulfur (NAS) batteries from Toho Gas Co., Ltd. The 48 NAS batteries (one container unit) ordered by the Japanese gas utility have a combined output of 11.4 megawatts and a capacity of 69.6 megawatt-hours. They are to be installed at the site of Toho Gas' former liquefied natural gas station in Tsu City, Mie Prefecture, and will be used to stabilize the power grid. Work is expected to begin this month, with commissioning scheduled for fiscal 2025.
