Monitoring system for up to 32 solar strings from Weidmüller

Weidmüller Interface GmbH & Co. KG of Detmold, Germany, has released a new »PV String Monitoring System.« The modular design allows the system to monitor up to 32 strings simultaneously and measure 25 to 50 amps per string. The system integrates directly into the DC generator junction boxes of PV systems with central inverters and is powered by the system current. DC/DC converters and communication hardware are already integrated. String monitoring enables both the detection of faults in the DC generator junction box (for example, blown fuses) and power deviations in the module strings. There are two variants for data transmission: The system can transmit data to the SCADA system either via RS-485 cable or wirelessly (with LoRA-WAN protocol).
