Swiss production equipment manufacturer Meyer Burger Technology AG has sold its German subsidiary AIS Automation Dresden GmbH to the Austrian S&T AG for around CHF 14 million ($14.1 million). Meyer Burger expects a net book profit of around CHF 2 million. The transaction has yet to be approved by the German authorities and is expected to be completed at the end of November.
According to Meyer Burger, S&T will take over all divisions and the approximately 140 employees of AIS. The Dresden-based company offers software solutions in the fields of automation and information technology. Since 2008, it has been part of the Roth & Rau Group, which in turn was acquired by Meyer Burger in 2011.
S&T AG, listed on the Frankfurt Stock Exchange and headquartered in Linz, Austria, employs around 4,800 people in 30 countries and is a provider of services, products and technologies in the fields of »Internet of Things« and industrial automation, among others.
Meyer Burger intends to continue to obtain »certain services« from AIS in the future. CEO Hans Brändle described the sale as a »a compelling solution for all parties involved«. The products of AIS are »in better hands with its new owners«, while Meyer Burger can now »concentrate more strongly on the strategic PV business«.
