Meeco installs first project with rope-based mounting system »sun2rope«

The Swiss renewable energy company Meeco AG has completed its first project with its »sun2rope« mounting system, which was presented in June. For the Kenyan retreat »Cottar's 1920 Camp« near the Masai Mara National Park, Meeco erected a 54-kW-system with the modules attached to ropes stretched between wooden piles.
Although there have been many rope-based PV mounting solutions – and with little success to date – these have usually worked with steel for both the ropes and the piles. In the Meeco system, wood from the respective environment is supposed to be used, and the ropes are made of plastic. They come from the German manufacturer Gruschwitz Textilwerke AG, which specialises in technical textile products. In projects such as the one now underway in Kenya, »sun2rope« is intended to minimize the impact on the environment and help reduce logistics costs.
