Maxeon reports 24.7 percent for »Maxeon 7« series module

Cell and module manufacturer Maxeon Solar Technologies, Ltd. reports a module efficiency world record of 24.7 percent for a Maxeon 7 module, confirmed by the U.S. National Renewable Energy Laboratory (NREL). The latest model from the Singapore-based company, whose modules are marketed primarily by its U.S. sister company Sunpower, is equipped with interdigitated back contact (IBC) solar cells, like all other Maxeon modules. An exact date for the market launch has not yet been set.
The company also reports efficiency improvements for current Maxeon 6 series modules, with the latest batches, some of which have already been shipped to Europe for projects, reaching 23 percent efficiency. Moreover, a version of the Maxeon 3 modules with 24 percent efficiency has been announced for delivery in the fourth quarter of this year.
