Masdar and W Solar announce »at least 500 MW« of renewables in Tajikistan

Abu Dhabi Future Energy Company - Masdar and W Solar Investment (also from Abu Dhabi) want to implement renewable energy projects with a total capacity of »at least 500 megawatts« in Tajikistan through their joint venture MW Energy. A corresponding agreement with the Ministry of Energy and Water Resources of the Central Asian country provides for photovoltaic, wind and hydropower projects to be pursued within the framework of public-private partnerships (PPP). Floating photovoltaic plants are explicitly mentioned here. The 500-MW framework is only »phase one« of the cooperation, according to a statement, which, however, does not contain any information on the investment volume, the schedule, possible locations or other details.
