Market launch for redox flow home storage system from Prolux Solutions

Prolux Solutions, based in Plattling (Germany) and part of the Swiss building equipment supplier Arbonia AG, is launching the »STORAC«, a home storage system with six kilowatt hours (kWh) of capacity and two kilowatts (kW) of power based on a redox-flow battery. Another model with 10 kWh/4 kW is in the pipeline.
According to a statement, Arbonia has created a »Battery Storage« business unit that combines development, product management, sales and service and uses the network of the listed company, which is active in the areas of indoor climate (heating, ventilation and air-conditioning technology) and interior doors made of wood and glass and has around 6,500 employees.
The STORAC, which was created in three years of development work and, according to the manufacturer, is produced entirely in Europe, has dimensions of 60 by 60 by 200 centimeters, and is thus – due to the technology – rather large for a storage system of this capacity. The AC-coupled, emergency power-capable and cascadable system uses a total of 300 liters of vanadium solution in two tanks as electrolyte. For better handling, the tanks are filled at the installation site.
