Longi sets record of 25.09 percent for N-Type TOPCon cell efficiency

Testing at the Institute for Solar Energy Research (ISFH) in Hamelin, Germany, has confirmed that the conversion efficiency of N-type monocrystalline bifacial TOPCon cells developed at the Chinese solar group Longi Green Energy Technology's cell R&D Center has reached 25.09 percent, »the first time that the efficiency of a TOPCon cell based on a commercial size silicon wafer has exceeded 25 percent,« according to the company.
Based on its original industrialized cell technology, the Longi cell R&D Center continually provides upgrades to PV industry technology. In January 2019 the company achieved 24.06 percent front conversion efficiency for a monocrystalline bifacial PERC solar cell. Between 2012 and 2020, Longi invested close to CNY 8 billion ($1.2 billion) in R&D and accumulated a total of 1,001 authorized patents, says the company.
