Lightsource BP announced plans to build 100 MW PV plant in South Australia

Lightsource BP, UK-based developer and operator of solar installations, and Golder, consultancy appointed to undertake environmental planning and community engagement, are hosting a community information event in Mannum, to outline the Lightsource BP proposal to fund, build and operate a solar project on 540 acres of land approximately 3 km west of Mannum town centre, South Australia.
The solar installation would have a capacity of approximately 100 MW. The construction of the proposed installation would also create around 300 skilled construction jobs in the region, as well as 2 to 3 on-going roles during operation, says the company.
The proposal design ensures 15ha of native vegetation will be retained and impacts on waterways will be avoided. The solar farm is also designed to allow for sheep grazing beneath and between the rows of panels, preserving an agricultural co-use alongside solar energy generation.
