Kopp establishes division for PV, storage solutions, e-charging systems and building automation

Heinrich Kopp GmbH of Kahl am Main (Germany), a manufacturer of electrotechnical products and components ranging from plugs and switches, dimmers and motion detectors to home automation and building management systems, has established a new »Energy and Home Automation Division«. The company, which has around 550 employees worldwide and is owned by Saudi Arabian Alfanar Group since 2016, thus intends to bundle and develop the areas of PV, storage solutions, e-charging systems and building automation. Photovoltaics has not been part of the portfolio so far; here, the company wants to »target solar installers, the energy and housing industry, as well as solid and prefabricated house manufacturers.«
With the new corporate division, »we are closing the gap between energy applications and home automation, i.e. smart home,« says CEO Stephan Dörrschuck. In the future, this will enable the company to offer »electrical and solar installers complete solutions from a single source: from solar modules to inverters and storage units to e-charging stations«. The aim is to achieve software-controlled integration of all components into a smart home system. A central element for this is the »Blue-control« smart home system, which is to be available in the first quarter of 2021.
The development of the division is headed by Zouhair Kefi, who joined Kopp in October as »Director Division Energy & Home Automation«. He most recently worked at inverter and storage system manufacturer Refu Elektronik. Uwe Fischbach is responsible for the »Smart Home (Home Automation)« division and is to accompany the technical implementation with his team.
