Jinko to build 11-GW n-type cell factory, Trina starts Vertex series production

Chinese solar group Jinko Solar Holding Co. Ltd. last week officially began construction of its »Jianshan Phase II« factory in Haining, Zheijang Province. The plant is expected to begin operations as early as Q4 of this year, with an annual capacity of about 11 gigawatts (GW) of solar cells and 15 GW of modules. Jinko plans to manufacture »Topcon« solar cells made of n-type silicon with an average efficiency of 25 percent for its »Tiger Neo« modules there. Jianshan II thus »could be the world’s first 10GW-scale factory to mass produce solar cell of above 25% efficiency,« according to a statement.
Shortly before that, Trina Solar Co. Ltd. also reported a significant increase in production: Trina has begun mass production of its »Vertex« modules, which were unveiled in April. Here, too, capacity – including the new Vertex S and Vertex 580W types – is expected to increase to ten GW by the end of this year.
