Ikea Foundation supports PURE program for renewable energy dissemination

The Global Off-Grid Lighting Association (GOGLA), the association of off-grid solar power solution providers, has enlisted the Ikea Foundation to support the Productive Use of Renewable Energy (PURE) program in Asia and Africa. The two partners announced a »strategic partnership« on Friday (Aug. 24) on the sidelines of the South Asia Forum for Distributed Energy (SAFDE) in New Delhi. The foundation will provide the PURE program with €4 million ($4.3 million) over four years.
The Ikea Foundation – organizationally separate from the INGKA Foundation, which owns the Ikea furniture group – has also joined the over 100 organizations supporting the »Power 1 Billion Lives« campaign of GOGLA and the United Nations to provide electricity to one billion people by 2030. GOGLA did not provide further details on the nature of its support.
